Lesotho commemorates African Statistics Day

In 2019, Nations identified 2021 as a year of applying innovation and culture for sustainable  development of world economy.

This was highlighted by the Minister of Development Planning Honourable Selibe Mochoboroane during African Statistics Day Celebration in Maseru.

Hon Minister said it has been realised that innovation and culture are not exposed to disasters, and also one of the pillars  that can grow the economy which is affected by COVID-19 pandemic.

Research has revealed that  data on culture is lacking  due to COVID19  therefore  data collection using modernised systems has to be developed and supported  in order to enhance culture.

Regarding agricultural sector  Hon Mochoboroane said food production has decreased by more than 50% in 1999/2000_2019/2020.

This year’s theme “Modernizing national statistical systems to support socio-cultural developmemnt in Africa”.
